The Diocese of Missouri and St. Francis Episcopal Church in Eureka (that’s us!) invite you to a special screening of the new documentary film, The Philadelphia Eleven.
In an act of civil disobedience, a group of women and their supporters organize their ordination to become Episcopal priests in 1974. The women are harassed, threatened, and banned from stepping on church property.
In this feature-length documentary film, we meet the women who succeed in building a movement that transforms an age-old institution, and challenges the very essence of patriarchy within Christendom.
We’ve rented the Hi-Pointe Theatre in St. Louis to show the movie on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 2 p.m. Doors will open at 1:30 p.m.
Tickets are $5 per person and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. (The theatre holds 414 people.) The movie will also be open to the general public.
